Conservative Christians are having a difficult time with their presidential choices. Giuliani has more moral problems than a streetwalker, McCain is the position-of-the-day sycophant, Romney is being called a cult-member (with reason), and Gingrich if he gets in has to contend with all those "he's a hypocrite" family values charges.
How about a couple of questions for them to consider:
1. Would you support a presidential candidate who is divorced, has estranged relations with his children, never sees his grandchildren, rarely attends church, strongly opposes a law to ban gays from teaching school, and as governor signed the nation’s most liberal abortion law?
2. Would you support him if you knew his name was Ronald Reagan?
Life must be hard when you're looking for angels to make decisions for you. On the other hand, it must be nice to have something to blame all your problems on.
- rick, ironic.

answer to your question rick, NO i wouldn't support that person. NOT for the reasons YOU happened to list, but because he WAS ronald reagan

The adoration that is thrown at Reagan continually astounds me. His administration spent money faster than a drunker sailor and created a monstrous fiscal debt, he was a two-faced friend (translation: bastard) to gays and lesbians, and the Iran/Contra scandal should have seen his administration's ass in prison (Hey, Ollie, gotta love that presidential pardon!).
Reagan was no hero. He was an actor playing a President. We Californians didn't learn and elected another schmuck named Arnold.
Asshats. All of us.

What amazes me is how conservatives claim to be family friendly and then support economic policies that make it so both parents have to work 40+ hours a week.

Thank heavens I'm an Independent and don't let a party chose who I will vote for.
Oh and totally what Sid said. Totally.

Rick, how dare you besmirch the name of the most glorious und high leader our great nation has ever had? I don't support Ronald Reagan for those reasons either. I support him because he was arguably one of most regressive, militaristic, corrupt, Orwellian presidential experience to his time, and because he was able to turn so many moral issues on their heads, and do it with style. I support him for his gall. Who else could call known, proven death squads roaming the countryside murdering people to the end of suppressing a populace for an autocratic leader "freedom fighters" in the same breath that he compared them to his own country's "founding fathers"?
You've got it all wrong about Reagan, Rick. You should reconsider your position. He was... a sweet spirit.
