Many of you may have heard that Ann Coulter was on Hardball with Chris Mathews the other day and Elizabeth Edwards called in to the show. If you're interested, the clip is at the end of this post.
I've said many times that the representatives of the right-wing get to say anything they want, spout any lies, and poison the political conversation in this country and the so-called media liberals don't confront them on it. They're followers root them on, cheer them for every disgusting word that they say. When confronted, people I know will simply say, "Both sides do it." It's simply not true. It's just not.
Ann Coulter has repeatedly and personally attacked Presidential candidate, John Edwards. She has even made fun of Edwards son, Wade, who died in an automobile accident at age 16. She said that Edwards had a bumper sticker which says, "Ask Me About My Dead Son." Who on the left has ever made fun of George H W Bush's daughter, Robin, who died of leukemia? During their respective campaigns, both Bush I and W brought it up as an issue of how death has affected them and how they dealt with it. No one on the Left ever made fun of it. We aren't that disgustingly nasty and opportunistic.
It's considered an asset to be nasty on the right-wing. They view kindness and personal respect as weakness. They hate actual human beings who behave in unpredictable ways guided by emotions and needs. Sociopaths are cool, psychopaths are understandable, and humans are fucking weak. Don't believe me? Follow this thread:
Here are actual quotes from the comment section on a rightie blog about this incident:
If Mrs. Edwards can’t stand the heat, she needs to get out of the kitchen in her six million dollar home. Maybe read some Jonathan Swift and see what real biting satire looks like.
Her hard-bitten, sarcastic wit, especially toward liberals, isn’t particularly nice, but then it isn’t intended to be either. The only difference between Coulter’s shtick and that of Al Franken or Bill Maher is that Ms. Coulter has a far larger audience indicatig that she is far more successfulas well.
She’s my hero.
In the family known as politics, “kind” is an unrecognized word.
I want Edwards and his crew to live at least through the first phases of the Presidential primary elections. Him, his wife, and his campaign workers contribute to “The Chuckle of the Day.”
ooo, insulting liberals. Now why is it that I like her?
Of course, this does answer the question why anyone would stay married to such a smarmy, hypocritical liar like Edwards. Birds of a feather!
In summation, civility is highly over-rated, and was not ever, not never, part of American politics.
As with the jihadists, [----], weakness invites attack. The Dems are winning the propaganda war because we aren’t fighting back at their lies, half-truths and fabrications. Ann fights back. More power to her.
Yes, it’s a Free Speech issue, not a “feelings” issue.
I don't believe that public figures, especially those who exert enough political influence to command hour-long forums on national television, ought to use those forums for vicious personal attacks on candidates. I guess that's what's left after all the issues have failed - (Iraq, Katrina, budget & fiscal responsibility, corruption, and ripping the Constitution to shreds.)

i have refrained from writing about this. i didn't see it (i won't watch chris matthews) but i certainly read about it. i have tried time after time to NOT write about the piece o' steamin' shite that is know as ann giant bloodclot-her. from time to time i can't resist though.
how ANY american can let it go when someone makes fun of a dead child OR wishes another american dead in a terrorist attack is UNamerican and UNbelievable. there is NO excuse for that 'female's' presence on this planet (and no i do NOT wish her dead or harm. i wish her just to slither away. no offense to snakes, since i do like THEM)

Interesting that Rose is a Rose refers to Ann Coulter as "that 'female'".
I find it interesting and telling about our society that women don't like outspoken women, just as much as (if not more than) men don't like them.
I agree that it's contemptible that Ann said such a horrible thing about the dead child. Too bad it's accepted that conservative right-wingers can be so nasty, and are in fact revered for such.

It boggles my mind that people stand behind the tactics of people like Coulter. She is not journalist, she is a holier than thou, ignorant, arrogant pig. There really is a difference, unfortunately all to often journalist are beginning to look more and more like Coulter. She needs to stick to the truth.
I believe Karma will get Coulter in the end and then she will cry foulplay when the fan hits her in the face.

Ann Coulter is the Republican party's venereal disease - an itchy, scratchy, and contagious case of poisonous vitriol. She gets off on being a complete beeyotch.
She's symptomatic of the Republican practices of dishonesty, fiscal irresponsibility, civil rights inequities, homophobia, theocracy, sanctioned torture, all while NEVER accepting responsibility.
Do I hate her? No, but I do look forward to seeing her fall, and fall hard.

to clear the record-i do NOT mind outspoken females. i am one.
mary madelyn (or however you spell her name) is one too. i don't agree with her at all yet i think SHE is human AND a woman.
that other being masquerading as a human is just barely so. she's NOT outspoken. she is pure unadultrated evil. vile. a horror
